چکیده

This paper presents new findings on partial discharge (PD) phenomena under high-repetition nanosecond pulsed voltages, essential for the insulation design of electrical motors fed by silicon carbide (SiC) inverters with high-switching frequencies. Here, a twisted pair sample simulating turn-to-turn random-wound motor coil winding was subjected to voltages generated SiC inverter-based pulse generator. In this experiment, rise time at voltage 1.5 kV is 23 ns, width 500 and repetition frequency (PRF) ranges from 60 pps 1 Mpps. PRF range, inception (PDIV) found be almost constant. Meanwhile, repetitive (RPDIV) significantly reduced when exceeded several tens kpps. Under high conditions, high-density ions produced preceding PD remain in gap space between enameled wires during pulse-off period contribute initiation subsequent PD. The resulting increase probability occurrence reduces RPDIV. Unlike previous reports, study clarified difference characteristics PDIV RPDIV, providing valuable reference data inverter-fed motors. Based obtained results, we propose revising IEC60034-18-41 standard, which verifies PD-free system, incorporate effect waveform inverters.

MOSFET Inverter Type High - Frequency Power Supply

Induction heating is a typical application field for high-frequency power supplies whose operating frequencies range from one to several hundred kilohertz. Induction heating applies an alternating magnetic field generated from the current flow in a coil to the conductive matter to be heated. This induces eddy currents on the conductive matter, those currents generate joule loss due to the matte...

Bearing Currents and Shaft Voltages of an Induction Motor Under Hard- and Soft-Switching Inverter Excitation

Bearing currents and shaft voltages of an induction motor are measured under hardand soft-switching inverter excitation. The objective is to investigate whether the soft-switching technologies can provide solutions for reducing the bearing currents and shaft voltages. Two of the prevailing soft-switching inverters, the resonant dc-link inverter and the quasi-resonant dc-link inverter, are teste...
